Don't Read Me Today

Seriously. I'm not blogging today. I'm throwing all those words into tweeting, emailing and Facebook messaging my Senators and Representatives and telling them that so much of what's happening this week is not okay (I would be phoning them, but nobody's answering the phones and all the voicemails are full). Not the refusal to oppose Betsy DeVos. Not the muslim ban, exerted against legal residents of the US but not against countries with whom Trump does business. Not that stupid wall. Tomorrow I'll get back to it, but today, I'm contacting my representative.

You do the same. Seriously-- you're already on the internet-- spend the five minutes you were going to use to check me out and go bother your elected representative.

  1. I've been doing some of that and writing directly to the White House. I plan to send one email to the White House each day. I figure it will be easy because Trump does something major that is both outrageous and stupid each day.

We won’t be silent in the shadows
We won't be driven to despair
We'll bring the light wherever we go
Protect the water and the air
We are, we are, we are indivisible
We walk along oceans and prairies
We are, we are, we are indivisible
    Together our voices will carry
And as we gather, old and young
Growing in numbers day by day
Joining our hands and hearts as one
We stand in unity and say,
"We are, we are, we are indivisible
We walk along oceans and prairies
We are, we are, we are, indivisible
    Together our voices will carry
    Together our voices will carry
    Together our voices will carry..."

  3. Have you run across www.whitehouseinc.org? It's a website set up by the people who handled the internet and social media for the Sanders campaign. The site will connect you to a randomly chosen Trump property so you can leave your message for the new prez since the White House comment line continues to be shut down.

  4. If they're not answering phones or checking voicemail, what makes you think they're checking email, Twitter, Facebook, etc.? Not to poo-poo written efforts as far as gathering support, but trying to communicate with the Trump administration is not likely to be effective. We need to start planning massive resistance, which is going to have to include overwhelming numbers of bodies in the streets and blatant civil disobedience. Trump cannot be resisted from the safety of our computer screens.

  5. Demonstrating at the airport was helpful today. Here in Los Angeles there were lots of us - welcoming all people coming in. Very scary for many people. Wish we could've shut it down!
