Notice, not one of these people is actually interested in *doing* anything about the economic inequality that is driving educational inequality. I'm looking for "Now that I've had this epiphany, I believe the only moral course is to substantially raise taxes on the rich and corporations, increase regulations on big corporations, end our foreign military entanglements and use the trillions gained and saved to level out economic inequality and provide a fair chance of life for all Americans." Can you picture Obama saying all that? Yeah, me neither.

BTW, they're *still* talking about "high-performing schools", so that alone tells me they still don't get it.

I agree with MsC - there may be room for forgiveness and working together, but it's going to take a long time and a lot of real action on their parts to earn it.Diennehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04570040547158789834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6534665086749553287.post-23430098340847835252019-06-19T16:51:32.327-04:002019-06-19T16:51:32.327-04:00I still can't contain my rage at the way teach...I still can't contain my rage at the way teachers were discounted while People With Money - non-teacher people without a CLUE! An apology for all of the lost educational opportunities swallowed by the testing beast. An apology for the constrained, twisted, distorted, and abbreviated K to 12 experience that was far from the best we could have offered. An apology for the time we were forced to waste on testing and data driven BS; time that they cannot ever get back.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6534665086749553287.post-80611181054085021562019-06-19T09:56:49.300-04:002019-06-19T09:56:49.300-04:00Excellent piece.

Hey, I'm a math teacher. That's sort of my wheel house.

However, I have a difficult time when someone's policies hurt my profession so badly. So, I will wait for at least a decade (like I did with Diane Ravitch) to see if their actions match their apology before I forgive them.
