Everyone reading your blog knows that it is strictly and always an opinion piece. And if we don't like it we can just shut up! (So no free speech h here). But at the Longshot that you'd actually publish this response let me say this: I have attended every meeting that you reference, and this policy has nothing to do with the sacred LGQ rights. While a library was debated a long time ago, this change is a result of the identification of a sig ificant quantity of titles that are in our libraries that contain pervasivly vulgar content. The board responded with policy revisions to assure that illegal content could managed appropriately. Those that disagree with any limitation respond by claiming classics and mild references to sexuality will be removed. The board has made it clear that this is not the case. In addition the LGB claims of targeting and discrimination are unfounded, as there is no reference or any indication that this policy seeks to do anything but remove the bad books. No student has a right to obscene reading, and no school should offer obscene material to a minor child.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
