This means that housing and cost of living is rough. We have had many teachers get hired, start looking for housing and then resign when they realize that can't afford to live here. Filling staff issues is even harder. We are OK in the winter, but spring and fall when the tourist placed are hiring, we can't compete. Getting substitute teachers is a joke right now. Our standards are even lower then what you outline, and we still can't fill our needs.

Another issue that sucks up funding that people don't think of is transportation. Our school has to run buses every day to locations 50 miles away. Also when it comes to training from the state, EVERYTHING is about 4 hours away. This means you can't do professional development casually, because it now involves a lot of travel, and usually a hotel room.

Money may not buy happiness, but it does make a lot of problems go away.Detankhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04708585324454510284noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6534665086749553287.post-60567978442699880302015-05-05T15:04:40.946-04:002015-05-05T15:04:40.946-04:00Interesting.Interesting.Rebecca deCocahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13168718846105012814noreply@blogger.com
