The mistreatment of straight white Christian males is an imaginary event that hasn't affected much of anything. Now, in talking about the trajectory of the country, we might talk about some SWCM whose perception of grievance led to various notable acts of violence, eg Timothy McVeigh.<br /><br />I've said before that there is no such thing as "just the facts" history, and so there is always subjectivity. But various schools of historical thought do give us frames for deciding where to focus; teachers have tools at their disposal to move beyond simple personal bias. So by necessity, you end up picking and choosing what parts of history you want to tell. And this inevitably introduces bias. Want to teach about how Rosa Parks was treated unfairly? Ok. Do you do the same for other groups including those liberals don't sympathize with very much - e.g. straight white Christian males ?
