The phrase is supposed to bludgeon and silence discussion on solutions in favor of the funding or gadgets or awesome new program that you are supposed to follow. I believe these buzz words are also used in healthcare funding, where someone like Gates will fund a program directly and bypass governments of other countries, thereby undermining their programs, luring away talent and so on, and possibly leave after a few years, when there is nothing left.
Danilo Lawverehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11672925336697561234noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6534665086749553287.post-66291320833279635772016-09-18T17:45:06.082-04:002016-09-18T17:45:06.082-04:00Let's face it, even the most devoted parents a...Let's face it, even the most devoted parents are not thrilled with endlessly wiping runny noses and reminding their kids to wash their hands. As Hillary Clinton once exclaimed, "What do you want me to do, stay home and bake cookies?"

Big thinkers have more important things to think about. The teachers whom they regard with thr greateat esteem are meant for the classroom (and I even had to tell one of my college students to wipe his nose) are the noble people who are heroes in their efforts to show up every day and teach young people so that the young people can have a bright future.

Big thinkers like politicians and administrators serve us by doing all that grunt work in big thinking. They are our advocates, out there slugging it out for us, fighting for us, so that good stuff can go in in the classroom.

They genuinely see themselves advocates. Movers. Shakers.

Other people are meant tondonthe actual nitty gritty work. Dealing with people's basic needs day in and day out is not intellectual or powerful enough for them. They see their talents as more useful in making policies. The problem is, despite their confessed admiration for teachers, they don't listen to them. So in 12 years or so, with a college degree, our fourth grader can drive for Uber while teaching full-time to escape poverty?

Christine LanghofflaMissyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00516322307725011313noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6534665086749553287.post-73082140521444146702016-09-17T14:49:52.681-04:002016-09-17T14:49:52.681-04:00O.
